Trigg County Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander announced the reopening of some county facilities and magistrates approved the first reading of the 2020-2021 fiscal year budget during a special called meeting Monday afternoon.
Alexander told magistrates the plan is to open the Trigg County Recycling Center on Monday, May 11.
He adds as long as cases stay plateaued, plans are to reopen the Trigg County Clerk’s Office to the public on Monday, May 18.
Alexander tells the News Edge the Trigg County Justice Center will remain closed through May 31 unless something changes.
In other news, Alexander presented the first reading of the 2020-2021 fiscal year budget for the county which reflects an increase of over $200,000.
He says the budget does include a 4% raise for county employees.
Another increase in the budget included rising insurance costs. Alexander adds the budget also includes a rate freeze for the state’s retirement system which he says helped to give the county employees a pay raise. The first reading for the budget was approved unanimously by magistrates.
Alexander also shared the news that dirt work will begin in the next two weeks at the site of the J-Cut intersection at Kentucky 139 and U.S. 68/Kentucky 80.
The next Trigg County Fiscal Court meeting will be Monday, May 18 at 2:00 PM via teleconference with hopes to conduct the Monday, June 1 meeting in-person in the basement of the annex building.
