State Board Of Elections Adopts Emergency Regulations For June Election

The Kentucky State Board of Elections approved last week temporary emergency administrative regulations outlining how the primary election scheduled for June 23 will be conducted.

The Secretary of State’s office reports the COVID-19 pandemic has created a state of emergency and poses a risk to the health and wellbeing of voters. They add the goal of measures adopted is in place to reduce the health risks to voters, poll workers, and administrators and guarantee access to the ballot for every eligible voter.

Every eligible registered voter will receive a postcard with instructions on how to apply for an absentee ballot, which will be delivered by mail. In addition, the State Board of Elections has established a secure online portal for absentee ballot applications that will provide voters a quick, easy, and secure way to request their ballot. All eligible voters who apply for an absentee ballot will qualify to receive one.

Once the ballot is completed it can be mailed free of charge or can be dropped off at a secure county-government location.

Voters can also vote in-person by appointment from Monday, June 8 until Tuesday evening, June 23 at 6:00 PM, more information will be released in the coming weeks.
