Virtual ‘Derby At Home’ Event Taking Place Saturday

Saturday would have marked the 146th running of the Kentucky Derby, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill Downs will instead host a ‘Derby at Home’ event this weekend.

The museum reports Saturday will feature a one-of-a-kind event that takes Derby enthusiasts on an educational and fun adventure as they safely celebrate the traditions of the Kentucky Derby. They add guests can get ideas to plan their own at-home Derby party, take a virtual tour of iconic Churchill Downs with one of their museum tour guides, and plenty of DIY crafts for the whole family.

The online experience will last all-day Saturday as the museum’s curatorial and event team brings together all the resources, ideas, celebration, archives, and footage from the “greatest two minutes in sports” and the experience of celebrating this tradition so fans can celebrate the Kentucky Derby without ever leaving home. The virtual events will take place on the Kentucky Derby Museum’s Facebook page and NBC will host a special Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.

At this time, the 146th running of the Kentucky Derby is rescheduled for September 5.

Kentucky Derby Museum will offer Live and Virtual Derby Experiences on our social channels throughout the day and during NBC’s special Kentucky Derby program scheduled for 2:00 to 5:00 PM, including:
