APSU To Host Virtual Celebration On May 8

Austin Peay State University will host a virtual celebration next week to honor the spring graduates.

APSU President Alisa White said they have determined that Spring Commencement should not occur May 8 and 9 after thoughtful discussion based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to avoid large social gatherings for the next eight weeks.

According to White, the virtual celebration to honor spring graduates will begin on Friday, May 8, at noon, and will be accessible on the University’s Facebook page and website. White added the University remains committed to inviting the May graduates back to campus to participate in Commencement when it is safe to do so.

For the last few weeks, University officials say they have asked graduating students to send in photos of themselves from their time on campus. They indicate the images will be used in a video montage as part of the day’s virtual, interactive celebration.
