More Kentuckians Now Eligible for Medicaid Health Coverage

With extended business and school closures throughout the state due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, thousands of Kentuckians are now concerned about the health coverage options that were once offered through their place of employment. WellCare of Kentucky has announced they are here to help.

Officials with WellCare of Kentucky stated in a release Friday that it’s important for Kentuckians who have lost their jobs, and by consequence their health insurance, to know they are eligible to apply for Medicaid coverage, as directed by Governor Andy Beshear. The release indicates that enrollment in Medicaid is offered year-round and healthcare services provided up to three months prior to enrollment can be covered retroactively.

WellCare of Kentucky officials note that as part of the company’s overall efforts to accelerate and stabilize access to care for members affected by COVID-19 they are supporting the state’s Healthy at Home guidelines by eliminating out-of-pocket costs for members, waiving all copays, deductibles, cost-sharing, and diagnostic testing fees, permitting early refills on most prescriptions and offering telehealth services on all covered healthcare services that can be administered virtually through June 30th, 2020.
