The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports a contractor plans occasional closures of Kentucky 1489/Park Road starting Thursday.
District One Public Information Officer Keith Todd says the closures will facilitate the construction of a new intersection where the highway meets with U.S. 68 at the main entrance to Lake Barkley State Resort Park. Todd adds motorists should use appropriate caution in this work zone and be alert for equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel along the roadway close to traffic flow.
Work at the intersection is expected to continue for about two weeks if the weather allows. During the closures, access to the state park and for residents of the Blue Springs area of Trigg County can be made via Kentucky 1489/Blue Springs Road.
Rogers Group is the prime contractor for the over $54-million design-build project that is estimated to be about 70% complete.
