Hopkinsville Apartment Fire Ruled As Arson

Police have released more information about a fight between a man and woman that ended as an apartment fire Monday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they went to a Moores Drive apartment for a domestic dispute and as they were investigating the altercation smoke started coming from the apartment.

The man reportedly punched the woman several times during the altercation and turned on a fryer inside the home that started a fire before fleeing the area. No one was in the apartment that the fire started in but one person was in an attached apartment at the time.

No arrest has been made but the report lists the charges as first-degree arson, first-degree wanton endangerment, and fourth-degree assault.

The apartment was severely damaged in the fire.
