Hopkins County Reports First COVID-19 Death

Two days after announcing their first two confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus in their county, the Hopkins County Health Department has confirmed that one person has died.
Health Department Director Denise Beach said the senior adult had underlying health conditions.

Beach said a third Hopkins County case was confirmed Thursday. The health department said only that the infected person was an adult. The Madisonville Messenger reported Friday the latest case is a worker at the GE Aviation plant in Madisonville. Plant officials said they are contacting people who worked in close proximity to the employee.

Beach said nearly 70 people have been tested for the COVID-19 virus in Hopkins County with the results pending on several of those.
