A safer at home order will be in place for all residents of Davidson County beginning Monday, March 23.

Nashville Metro Mayor John Cooper issued the order Sunday morning.  The order that will go into effect at midnight closes nonessential businesses and urges people to stay home for at least 14 days.  Cooper says the order is being issued to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Grocery stores, convenience stores, and pharmacies will remain open.  Restaurants will still be able to provide take-out, delivery and drive-thru services.

Under the order residents can still go outside for fresh air, but the mayor’s office ask that you keep six feet distance from other people.

On Sunday there were 179 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Davidson County, with 151 cases still active.  Twenty-seven people in Davidson County have recovered.
