Trigg County Burglary Leads To Dog Bite And Arrest

A report of a burglary in progress led to a Trigg County man being charged with assaulting deputies and a K9 Friday morning.

Trigg County Sheriff’s Office Major Jimmy Godair said they were called to Humphries Road for a burglary in progress and found the home had been ransacked.

26-year-old Christopher Herndon was reportedly located in the attic of the home by a deputies K9 and was bit by the dog. Herndon reportedly hit the dog along with assaulting two deputies during the arrest.

Deputies say Herndon had a long rifle and a handgun with him when he was located. Both deputies and the K9 suffered only minor injuries from the assault.

The home is owned by a family member of Herndon’s.

He is charged with first-degree burglary and assault of a police officer. Herndon was taken by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital due to injuries from the arrest.
