Governor Beshear Confirms First KY COVID-19 Death

Governor Andy Beshear has confirmed the first COVID-19 death and says there is an order coming that will mandate all bar and restaurant dining rooms close.

During his Monday morning update, Governor Beshear stated the Bourbon County resident that passed away had an underlying health issue.

Beshear reaffirmed that we will get through this outbreak, but he adds every one needs to do their part.

As of Monday morning, there were 21 confirmed cases of COVID-19, all in central Kentucky.

He adds they are working on an order that would close all bars and restaurants to in-person traffic by 5:00 Monday evening.

He adds the order will still allow for take-out, drive-through, and delivery orders.

In addition, work is continuing to waive the waiting period for unemployment benefits for anyone losing their jobs due to the virus.

Governor Beshear adds beginning Tuesday morning the state capitol will be closed to nonessential personnel.

He adds fourteen Kentuckians that were on the Grand Princess cruise are home and the last two, who were at a different location, are on their way home Monday.
