Graduation Date Set for CCHS And HHS Seniors

The graduation date for seniors in the Christian County School District was approved at a workshop/special called meeting of the Board of Education Thursday night.

Board Chair Linda Keller said the Office of Pupil Personnel requested the graduation date be set on Friday, May 22 for Hopkinsville High School and Christian County High School.

Board members also approved a request by Transportation Director Mike Brumley to declare used buses as surplus and sell them through KISTA.

Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill presented the results of the Studer Parent and Student Survey, which was offered in November to parents or caregivers to express their level of satisfaction regarding their child’s school in the district. She noted the survey is used to make continued improvements and identify gaps. Gemmill said there were 189 more participants than last year’s survey.

She added four schools in the district have shown continuous growth in the past three years.

She noted the district’s team is recognized as a regional leader of continuous improvement.

District Assessment Coordinator Tracey Leath presented the high three in the survey.

She noted the information from the survey is rolled into an action plan and there were two targeted areas.

The board also recognized the Christian County Middle School Percussion Ensemble for being the first middle group selected to perform at the annual KEMA in Louisville. The Ensemble is directed by Calvin Warren and provided school board members with a short performance.

The next regular school board meeting will be Thursday evening, March 19, at 6:00.
