First Case Of Coronavirus Confirmed In Kentucky

Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency Friday afternoon after the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in Kentucky.

He says the state of emergency is to ensure Kentucky has all the necessary resources.

Governor Beshear made the announcement at a news conference. He says the individual is being treated is in isolation in a medical facility.

He adds the state is ready to respond and people do not need to panic.

Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steve Stack says the epidemiologist will go through a methodical process regarding the individual being treated for coronavirus.

Governor Beshear says the Poison Control Hotline has been repurposed for the COVID-19 for the general public to call with any concerns. The number is 1-800-222-1222.
