CCHD Officials Say They Are Monitoring The Coronavirus

Christian County Health Department officials say they are working with local, state and federal entities to stay up to date on the Coronavirus (COVID-19). They indicate the state and Christian County have currently been assessed to be at low risk.

Marketing Specialist Amanda Sweeney says as a precautionary measure they have been working with officials on the state level and with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to stay up-to-date on the latest information about the Coronavirus. She says the state is monitoring about 100 individuals but there are currently no signs of the Coronavirus.

As a precaution, the state will continue to monitor residents in Kentucky that return from China and continue to work with the CDC to obtain proper testing kits. Currently, testing must go to the CDC with a 24-hour turnaround.

While the Coronavirus has been the topic in the news lately, Sweeney says the flu continues to be widespread in Kentucky.
