The Hopkinsville Fire Department says the State Fire Marshall’s office has determined the cause of a fire that resulted in significant damage to a North Drive church.
Hopkinsville Fire officials tell the News Edge the State Fire Marshall investigator determined the fire was electrical in nature.
Hopkinsville Fire Department Deputy Chief Bill Pyle said they were called to North Drive at 5:45 am for a report of a fire at The Upper Room House Of Prayer near the intersection of West 2nd Street. Pyle said flames and smoke were coming from the left front side of the building when firefighters arrived.
No one was in the church at the time of the fire.
