Kentucky 778 Bridge Could Be Named After Donald Tyler

Trigg County Fiscal Court passed a resolution to ask the General Assembly to consider renaming a bridge on Will Jackson Road after a longtime magistrate.

Judge/Executive Hollis Alexander says Donald Tyler means a lot to the community after serving for 25 years as a magistrate and volunteering at the Trigg-Lyon Fire Department.

County Attorney Randy Braboy adds the request will go to the General Assembly for passage since it’s a state highway.

The resolution was passed unanimously, with Tyler saying the honor is very humbling.

In other action, magistrates approved the county road aid cooperative program agreement, so the county could receive over $1.4-million for road projects.

Michael Oliver with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet also presented the rural secondary recommendations for Trigg County. Recommended improvements for 2020 include the repaving of Kentucky 124 – Cerulean Road from Horse Creek Bridge to Cerulean-Bainbridge Road, Kentucky 164 – Linton Road from Beechy Creek Bridge to Craig Branch Road, Kentucky 1585 – Caledonia-Pee Dee Road from We Like It Lane to Kentucky 272, and Kentucky 276 – Hurricane Road from Woods Road to Bethesda School Road. One additional improvement would be replacing a pipe under Kentucky 778 – Will Jackson Road at the 7.5 mile-marker.

The projects presented by Oliver were simply recommendations, with court members able to ask for another project to be done first. The rural secondary funding is funded by motor fuel tax revenue and used for the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of secondary and rural roads in each county of the Commonwealth.

Additionally, magistrates approved to move the next meeting to Tuesday night, February 18 at 6:00, as February 17 is Presidents Day.
