Accident Causes Thursday Afternoon Power Outage In Princeton

Several downtown Princeton businesses, including our sister station WPKY, lost power for a short period of time following an accident that involved a semi tractor-trailer Thursday afternoon.

Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis reports that just after Noon that a semi was attempting to make a delivery in the alley behind several Main Street businesses, across from the Crooked Tail Distillery, when the trailer hooked onto a cable line.

Francis adds they had to put out a vehicle fire upon arrival.

Power was returned to most of the city just before 1:00, but crews with the Princeton Electric Plant Board remaining on scene to repair the pole.
