Hopkinsville Museum to Reopen Post-Remodel

The Pennyroyal Area Museum is gearing up for their grand reopening next month following two years of extensive renovations to the historic building in downtown Hopkinsville.

Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County Executive Director Alissa Keller, the featured speaker of Tuesday’s Rotary meeting, says they have been hard at work with a full remodel. She adds they have been checking with the Kentucky Heritage Council to honor the legacy and heritage of the building.

In addition to many structural updates and improvements, the exhibition portion has received a complete overhaul as well.

Keller notes they have partnered with the schools to ensure students have a new learning opportunity in the museum’s exhibits.

Many of the projects in the museum, Keller says, will have a special focus on the farming that is central to Kentucky.

She adds there will be many interactive opportunities throughout the museum exhibits.

Another new aspect of the updated museum will be a new gift shop featuring unique gifts and games.

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County is inviting the community to their grand reopening on February 27 at 3:00 p.m. The reopening will be held on the 105th anniversary of when the original post office that previously occupied the building was opened.
