A house suffered major damage in a structure fire in Dawson Springs early Tuesday morning.
Fire officials state that crews responded to reports of a garage on fire at a residence on East Walnut Street just after two. Officials add that when crews arrived on scene the garage was fully involved and flames had spread to the back of the home. Crews were on scene until about four as they worked to extinguish the blaze.
Officials report that the garage was a complete loss and the house suffered heavy heat, smoke, and water damage to the left side and back of the structure.
Dawson Springs Police Chief Mike Opalek reports that the residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire but notes that the incident is still under investigation.
Dawson Springs Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Princeton Fire Department, the Charleston Fire Department, and Dawson Springs Police Department.
