Hopkinsville Police & Christian County Sheriff’s Department Welcome New Officers

Five new officers will be joining law enforcement agencies in Christian County after graduating from basic training this week at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.

Troyvine Jefferson, Megan Little, Shaun Moore Sr., and Maricela Williams will be the newest officers of the Hopkinsville Police Department, and Raymond Poindexter will join the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.

They were among thirty-three law enforcement officers who were graduates of Class 507 and completed 20 weeks of training, which consisted of 800 hours of recruit-level instruction. Major areas of training included law offenses and procedures, vehicle operations, firearms, investigations, first aid and CPR, patrol procedures and the mechanics of arrest, restraint, and control.

Basic training is mandatory for Kentucky law enforcement officers to comply with the state’s Peace Officer Professional Standards Act of 1998.
