Hendricks And Luna Thanked For Continued Service To Hopkinsville

Community members had the opportunity Friday afternoon to say thank you to Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks and Idalia Luna, as both move into new positions.

Mayor Hendricks, who has served in the capacity for five years, is stepping down to become the Executive Director of the South West Kentucky Economic Development Council.

During a send-off party, Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Brooke Jung thanked Mayor Hendricks for his service to the city and presented his family with a basket filled with Visit Hopkinsville items.

Sportsplex Marketing and Events Coordinator Chris Jung says Mayor Hendricks’ effort, willingness, and commitment to positive change has made a huge impact on everyone.

Jung presented Hendricks with a lifetime pass to the Planters Bank – Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville. Hendricks was also given the first-ever Key to Christian County by Judge/Executive Steve Tribble, with City Councilwoman Amy Craig reading a special proclamation.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, who took office in January 2019, says he has enjoyed working with Mayor Hendricks and looks forward to what’s next.

Additionally, Idalia Luna, who has worked for the city for six years as the mayor’s assistant, was recently named the Executive Director of the Hopkinsville-Christian County Human Rights Commission. Luna says she looks forward to serving the community and being an advocate to those who need a voice.
