Grand Jury Returns Indictments For Assault And Child Abuse

A woman who allegedly stabbed her mother multiple times last month was indicted by the Christian County Grand Jury Friday morning.

18-year old Makayla Anisa Paige of Hopkinsville was indicted for first-degree assault – domestic violence. The charges stem from December 29, 2019 when Hopkinsville Police reported Paige stabbed 38-year old Johnshawna Lamb during an altercation on Cates Street. According to police, Paige stated she was defending herself when her mother was hitting her during an argument. Police said Lamb suffered multiple stab wounds to her thigh, back, and arm, but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The grand jury also indicted 27-year old Bradford Thomas Lynch, Jr. of Hopkinsville on two counts of first-degree strangulation and two counts of first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 and under. The arrest warrant states the charges are from August 10, 2019 when Lynch smashed his step-daughter’s phone and then went into his step-sons’ room and allegedly choked him until his face was bright red. Police said he then went to the other step-son and began to strangle him. Officers said the mother, 29-year old Sheena Lynch, was home at the time and didn’t stop him. She was indicted by the grand jury for two counts of first-degree complicity to strangulation and two counts of first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 and under.
