Kiwanians Learn the Importance of Relay For Life

The 2020 Christian County Relay For Life is fast approaching and the Relay committee has several events for the community to enjoy while raising money for the American Cancer Society.

Community Development Manager for the Christian County Relay for Life Brittany Bennett notes it is often forgotten that Relay events are fundraisers for the American Cancer Society. Donations from these events fund a variety of services for cancer patients.

Bennett highlights the Road to Recovery program that provides transportation for those undergoing treatment.

In addition, they also provide Hope Lodges for patients to stay in.

Pam Futrell, a two-time cancer survivor as well as Chair for 2020’s Relay, was also a featured speaker during the meeting. She says they will be hosting a pancake breakfast Saturday morning to kick off the 2020 Relay For Life.

Futrell adds the annual Sweetheart Ball will be at The Bruce in February.

In addition, a free Caregivers Dinner is scheduled for March to recognize caregivers.

The Christian County Relay For Life event is slated for June 5 in the Sportsplex.

Bennett and Futrell were the featured speakers of Thursday’s Kiwanis meeting.
