Motorcyclist Injured In New Year’s Day Wreck Dies

A motorcyclist injured in a wreck in Clarksville on New Year’s Day has died. Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll says 51-year old Harold Perry succumbed to the injuries Tuesday.

As we previously reported, the wreck occurred around 10:00 the night of January 1st at the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Quin Lane. Police said Perry was operating a motorcycle northbound on Fort Campbell Boulevard when a southbound Jeep driven by 38-year old Arial Hummel made a left turn and pulled into his path. The motorcycle crashed into the Jeep and Perry was ejected and landed on top of the rear tire and Jeep’s frame.

Perry was transported by Life Flight in critical condition to a Nashville hospital following the crash.

Hummel was arrested after the wreck and lodged in the Montgomery County Jail charged with driving under the influence. Knoll says Hummel is now facing additional charges of vehicular homicide and failure to yield resulting in death/injury.
