Trigg Man Convicted Of Trafficking Cocaine

A Trigg County man was sentenced to 20-years in prison after he was convicted by a jury last week of drug trafficking and being a multiple drug offender.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins tells the News Edge the jury trial for 38-year old Antonio Wharton was held in Trigg Circuit Court last Thursday, December 19. She says Wharton was arrested and charged on January 8, 2018, with trafficking a controlled substance – greater than 4 ounces – Cocaine after officers found cocaine, drug paraphernalia and cash in his residence.

After hearing all the evidence, Ovey-Wiggins says the jury found Wharton guilty of drug trafficking and for being a multiple drug offender.

According to Ovey-Wiggins, Wharton will be formally sentenced the afternoon of February 12 at 1:00 in Trigg Circuit Court.
