CCES Student Receives Surprise of a Lifetime

A Caldwell County Elementary School student got a Christmas gift she’ll never forget during a special assembly at the school Wednesday morning.

Principal Melissa Thomas says that with the help of the entire school they were able to concoct a great Christmas surprise for third-grade student, Gracey Parker, whose father, 1st Lieutenant David Parker, has been deployed overseas in Kuwait for almost a year.

Gracey’s stepmother, Marie, says that she and Gracey’s mother, Nikki Smith, had been working on the surprise for several months and were extremely grateful for those at the elementary school who stepped up and allowed the plan to become a reality.

 

thomas adds that her hope is to use this experience to teach children and adults alike what each and every solider must give up in order to protect this country.

Superintendent Nate Huggins expressed his excitement over the surprise, stating that it would be something he’d never forget.

Parker, who serves in the South Carolina National Guard, notes that he was extremely excited about surprising his daughter and was happy to finally be home, just in time for Christmas.
