Firefighters from multiple fire departments were called to Tress Shop Road for a house fire Friday evening.
Pembroke Fire Department Chief Nick Belair tells the News Edge the fire is believed to have started with some hot coals from a wood-burning stove that the homeowner left in a bucket before she left home this morning.
Belair says the home located at 1740 Tress Shop Road is a total loss. He adds the homeowner did not have insurance and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the owner.
No one was injured in the fire.
