New City Clerk Hired By Lafayette City Commission

The pending change in leadership at the City of Lafayette has resulted in the hiring of a new city clerk.

At a special called meeting of the Lafayette City Commission Monday night, Wendy Hancock was hired as the new city clerk, effective January 1, 2020. Current City Clerk April Riddle says she resigned in October after 13 years in the position. She indicates the City Commission had previously hired someone in November for the city clerk position but it was determined by the City’s Attorney, Michael Cotthoff, there was a conflict of interest.

Wallace Mason is resigning as the Mayor of Lafayette as of December 31, and Riddle says the City Commission will appoint someone to fill his position at the January 2020 meeting.
