Cadiz Park Idea Discussed During Special Meeting

A special called meeting of Cadiz City Council Tuesday evening featured discussions about building a park that could be an effort of multiple quasi-governmental agencies.

Councilwoman Susan Bryant says a committee was formed earlier this year to talk about the idea of building a public pool, but the conversation has shifted to a park that could accommodate multiple activities.

Bryant notes they are looking at 37-acres of land that may be available for $375,000 just north of the city limits near the Trigg County Senior Citizens Center.

An evaluation of the land to determine how much of it could be used for a public park could cost in upwards of $100,000. Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Commission Deepak Patel says they will know a closer estimate of cost soon.

Bryant adds the project would start small but hopes it would later expand into something for everyone to enjoy.

Cadiz City Council was joined by Trigg County fiscal court magistrates, tourism commission, and the parks and recreation board.

Bryant and others hope grants will be available to help with the project. More discussions will be forthcoming, with no approval or decisions made as it was a special called meeting.

The next Cadiz City Council meeting will be Tuesday evening, December 3 at 6:00 at Cadiz City Hall.
