CCPS Superintendent Announces Retirement

Christian County Public Schools’ Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill announced at Thursday night’s meeting she is retiring at the end of the school year.

In a letter to the board and school board attorney, Gemmill stated the early notification of her retirement at the end of the 2019-2020 school year was to provide board members ample time to hire a new superintendent.

Gemmill also stated in the letter it has been her great pleasure to serve as Superintendent of Christian County Public Schools for the past eight years, and she wishes the board only the very best in their search for a new superintendent.

She went on to say her hope for CCPS is to continue to do whatever it takes to find the success they all desire. Gemmill added, “working together will produce the kind of school system our children deserve”.

Gemmill was appointed as the superintendent of the district on July 12, 2012 after previously serving in public school administrations in Tennessee, Illinois, and Florida.

Gemmill’s contract ends June 30, 2020.
