Hopkinsville Council Considering Annexation Of Neighborhood

Hopkinsville City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance that would place a subdivision into the city limits during their Tuesday evening meeting.

Mayor Carter Hendricks says there continues to be growth near the Interstate 24/U.S. Highway 41-A intersection.

The area known as Windmill Farms is located south of Miller Mill Road and just north of Interstate 24 and is over 34 acres. Council unanimously approved first reading, with the next reading and approval expected soon.

In addition, council approved an ordinance that will establish a permanent four-way stop at Pyle Lane and Millbrooke Drive. The four-way stop was put in place to help traffic flow while the bridge on Millbrooke Drive was being replaced by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Council members learned the successful Trash for Cash program has ended for the year. Coordinator Robin Charles says participants cleaned up 158-miles of city streets.

In other recognition, Hopkinsville Fire Department’s Phillip Ferguson was sworn-in as Deputy Chief.

The next meeting will take place Tuesday evening, December 3 at 6:00 in the Hopkinsville Municipal Building.
