Christian County Judge/Executive Steve Tribble has confirmed to the News Edge that a longtime Hopkinsville industry has closed its doors.
Tribble says he received notification by email Friday afternoon that Ebonite International would be closing their doors immediately.
Tribble adds all 171 employees will receive severance pay through January 13.
He adds the closure comes as a complete shock to the community.
The West Kentucky Workforce Board posted Friday afternoon on Facebook they were made aware of the closure. The board adds response plans are in the works at this time and expect detailed information to be released Monday regarding assistance for employees.
After announcing the closure, it was confirmed the company was sold to Brunswick. Flo Bowling reports production will move to Reynosa, Mexico.
