Two Former Teachers Continue to Improve Students’ Lives

Two retired Trigg County educators are continuing to bring joy into students’ lives through knitting and cupcakes.

Jane Ellen Wilson, a teacher for 36 years until her retirement in 2002, has been knitting hats for 17 years. She says she has created at least 4,700 hats during that time. In addition to giving them to primary students in Trigg County, she also sends them to servicemen and women in our nation’s military through Operation Gratitude.

Cheryl Bowers, a close friend of Wilson, tells the News Edge they teamed up to bring students joy by way of hats and cupcakes.

She notes Wilson enjoys the opportunity to serve her former students.

Bowers adds they both look forward to visiting the students each year.

Bowers was also a teacher at Trigg County Schools for 24 years until her retirement in 2015.
