Memorial Honoring Trooper Ponder In Trigg County

A Trigg County man recently constructed a memorial to honor a Kentucky State Police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2015.

Kelley Carpenter, the previous owner of Rockcastle R&R, which served as an initiative to give free vacations to active duty military and their families, says it all started with a flagpole.

Carpenter adds he met Trooper Cameron Ponder when he first started patrolling in western Kentucky in early 2015.

The memorial is easy to find.

Carpenter adds visitors will see other things they have put up at the site.

Carpenter notes he has some additional dreams for the memorial site.

Carpenter welcomes everyone to stop by and visit.

Trooper Cameron Ponder was killed on September 13, 2015, while conducting a traffic stop in Lyon County. Trooper Ponder was from Rineyville and a 2002 graduate of North Hardin High School.
