Lt. Governor Visits TCHS To Present Challenge Award

A Trigg County High School student and a recent graduate were presented a trophy by Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton Thursday afternoon for accomplishments over the last year in her Entrepreneurship Challenge.

Cade Bleidt and Grace Knight were presented the trophy in the high school’s Little Theater for coming in first place during the 2019 challenge.

Hampton says she is proud of Bleidt and Knight for all of their hard to work to create the G-CAN medical bracelet.

Knight tells the News Edge the next step for G-CAN is getting a patent.

Knight notes it has been hard to balance going to Murray State University and continuing to work with Bleidt, who is a senior at Trigg County High School.

Bleidt and Knight were both awarded a $15,000 scholarship by Lt. Governor Hampton in April for winning the competition. They have also received additional funding from many sources to continue their work.

Both echo the project has been a great experience and are excited for the future of G-CAN. During the challenge, the team was coached by Engineering Teacher Lori Ricks.
