Demolition Well Underway With Trigg Construction Projects

Trigg County Board of Education members heard updates on construction going on across the district and approved the purchase of two new buses Thursday evening.

Director of Operations Matt Ladd says fall break has allowed construction crews to get some work done with all three school projects. He adds the security vestibule projects in the middle and high schools are going well and crews focused on demolition this week.

Ladd notes crews working on the elementary school project ran into a few snags when they struck a natural gas line this week when razing the former adult education building.

In other news, Director of Transportation Erin Eagleson asked the board to purchase two new buses with extended warranties. He recommended purchasing a 66-passenger and a special needs bus from Thomas Buses.

Eagleson adds he would like to spend the rest of his $225,000 budget on extended warranties for the two 2020 model buses that were purchased last year.

All purchases were unanimously approved by the board.

Additionally, the Superintendent Search Committee will meet on Monday to finalize their recommendations and present them to the board during a special-called meeting on Tuesday, October 22.

The next regular board meeting will be held Thursday evening, October 24 at 6:00. The meeting will be the yearly meeting with the Site-based Decision Making Council.
