The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library announced Friday that Sarah Hardison is the new Dolly Parton Imagination Library Coordinator. She will replace Bonnie Lynch, who has been the Imagination Library Coordinator since 2012 and recently announced she will retire at the end of the year.
Library officials say Hardison is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Organization and Communication. She has a background in marketing and customer relations and has worked as a gymnastics instructor with a wide variety of age groups.
Hardison, who recently moved back to Hopkinsville, says she is excited to be the Imagination Library Coordinator and is eager to connect with new faces in the community, merge her skill set with her passion, and invest in the community’s youngest generation.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a free program to any child, birth to five-years old. Enrollment in the program provides an age-appropriate book which is delivered to the child’s home each month. Officials say the program is also an important literacy concept in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Ireland.
Officials indicate the Imagination Library at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library averages over 3,200 children enrolled throughout the county.
