Christian County Magistrates Approve Second Reading Of Tax Rates

Christian County Fiscal Court members approved the second reading of the tax rates for 2019 during their Tuesday morning meeting.

Christian County Attorney John Soyars presented the recommended tax rates of 18.7-cents per $100 for real estate and tangible property and 11.6-cents per $100 for motor vehicles and watercraft.

As we have previously reported, Judge-Executive Steve Tribble notes the tangible rate went down about 3-cents and matches the real estate tax rate.

Magistrates voted unanimously to approve the tax rates.

In other business, magistrates approved a joint resolution with the City of Hopkinsville that would designate emergency communication center workers first responders in Christian County.

Magistrate Phillip Peterson, who formerly worked at the Christian County Emergency Communications Center, says he fully agrees with the resolution.

He adds the ECC workers are among the best in the state and do a great job for all residents in the county. The resolution will go to Hopkinsville City Council to approve during their meeting next Tuesday evening at 6:00.

Magistrates also approved adding Pleasant View Acres Drive and North Ridge Drive into the county road system, both roads are .3-miles or less in length.
