Pennyrile United Way Kicks Off Las Vegas Themed Campaign

The United Way of the Pennyrile kicked off their annual campaign Thursday morning at the AW Watts Senior Center in Hopkinsville by announcing county fundraising goals, something they have not done in the past.

Campaign co-chair Dustin Gilbert says this year’s theme is Las Vegas – “What’s Raised Here, Stays Here”.

Co-chair Robin Tabor notes a lot of residents in the region used at least one United Way funded program last year.

During the kick-off breakfast, division chairs and co-chairs shared reports from each of the campaign cabinets. Over $290,000 has already been raised through the commercial, education, government, professional, industrial, and the Latham Society divisions.

Tabor adds each of their four counties has individual goals to meet in order to fund their needs.

Christian County has the biggest goal of $775,000. Caldwell’s goal is set at $48,000, Trigg’s at $42,000, and Todd’s goal is $41,000. The United Way of the Pennyrile provides funding to twenty partner agencies including the American Red Cross, Bright Life Farms, the Dyslexia Association of the Pennyrile, among others.

Executive Director Annie Catron notes they have several events coming up to assist with the campaign, including Small Business Week during the week of October 21. She adds there will also be mid-campaign reports for Caldwell, Todd, and Trigg counties from November 12-14. A Casino Night/Reverse Raffle night will take place in January 2020, with the Celebration Dinner occurring Thursday evening, March 12, 2020.

Donations to the campaign can be made at pennyrileunitedway.org, by texting Give2UWP to 313131, or through your employer.
