Councilwoman Charged With Forgery Appears For Arraignment

A Hopkinsville City councilwoman indicted for second-degree forgery appeared for arraignment in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning.

Kimberly McCarley and her defense attorney, Ben Fletcher, appeared before Judge John Atkins, who continued the case until mid-October for a preliminary hearing.

McCarley was indicted by the Christian County Grand Jury on August 16. McCarley is accused of forging the name of a woman on a bank document without her permission on June 22, 2016.

McCarley represents Ward 2 and has served on City Council since 2009. McCarley was absent from the City Council and Committee of the Whole meetings held last week.
