An Eddyville man was injured in a three-vehicle accident in Lyon County Monday morning.

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White says that crews responded to reports of a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 62 and 641 around 11:45. He adds that a preliminary investigation revealed that 47-year-old Richard H. Cummins, of Princeton, was turning north off of Highway 62 and pulled into the path of a westbound vehicle driven by 66-year-old Charles Ladd Jr., of Eddyville, causing the vehicles to collide. A vehicle driven by 75-year-old Gary Hamer, of Oneida, New York, who was also traveling westbound, then rear-ended Ladd’s vehicle, with all three vehicles coming to a rest in the intersection.

Sheriff White notes that Ladd was transported to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah for injuries sustained in the crash. Cummins, Hamer, and a passenger in Hamer’s vehicle, 75-year-old Patricia Hamer, refused treatment at the scene.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Eddyville Police Department, Lyon County EMS, Lyon County Rescue Squad, and Eddyville Fire Department.
