Cadiz Woman Arrested For Possessing Controlled Substance

A Cadiz woman was arrested for public intoxication and other charges Sunday afternoon.

The Cadiz Police Department reports they received a call about 37-year old April Cottrell walking eastbound on U.S. 68/80 and appeared to be upset and possibly intoxicated. Officers made contact with Cottrell and reported she was intoxicated on a controlled substance due to her being jittery, crying uncontrollably, and constantly talking to herself.

During a consented search of a bag, officers allegedly found a checkbook that belonged to a male subject, two syringes that were filled with an unknown substance, and an open package of suboxone.

Cottrell is charged with public intoxication of a controlled substance – excluding alcohol, 2nd-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 3rd-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
