Tourism Impact Up In Trigg And Other Counties

The tourism economic impact in Trigg County and throughout Kentucky saw an increase from 2017 to 2018.

Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Director Bill Stevens tells the News Edge tourism spending and impact was up.

 

He adds most counties around the region had an increase in tourism in 2018.

 

With increased tourism spending, more tourism-related jobs were created.

 

Stevens notes tourism is looking well the first seven months of 2019.

 

According to the Economic Impact of Tourism in Kentucky for 2018, over $1.6-million was generated in state and local taxes in Trigg County.

The report shows the biggest increase in regional tourism economic impact for 2018 occurred in Christian County, which was up over $10-million. The second biggest was in Lyon County at $1.4-million, with Todd County reporting an increase of $540,000. The largest decrease occurred in Marshall County at $1.2-million under 2017, with Caldwell County reporting a decrease of $40,000.
