Princeton Woman Stabbed, Man Arrested

A Princeton woman was sent to a Nashville hospital and a Princeton man was arrested following an altercation early Tuesday morning.

Princeton Police Chief Chris King says that officers responded to a complaint of a female being cut with a knife in the 300 block of North Harrison Street just after two. He adds that when officers arrived they found the victim, 58-year-old Sandra Monroe, with a large laceration to her neck, inside the residence. Monroe told officers that she and 55-year-old Henry W. Cotton had been in an argument that escalated when he allegedly cut her with a knife. Monroe also told officers that Cotton had supposedly taken her pistol and pointed it at her before fleeing the scene.

Chief King notes that Cotton was located at the Stratton Inn and taken into custody just before three. Cotton was then charged with first-degree assault, first degree wanton endangerment, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, among other charges, and was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.

Monroe was taken to the Caldwell Medical Center by Caldwell County EMS and was later transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
