National Night Out Seeks to Better Community Relations

Trigg County hosted its first ever National Night Out to honor our first responders Tuesday evening.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign to promote partnerships between law enforcement, other emergency officials, and citizens since 1984. Trigg County Sheriff Jason Barnes spoke with the News Edge about the event’s goal of uniting the community with first responders.

The event hosted representatives from Trigg County Hospital, Crime Stoppers, FNB Bank, Sanctuary House, Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, multiple fire departments, and various first responders to share information with the public on resources available to them. The activities also included a special K-9 demonstration.

The National Night Out drew a sizeable crowd to West Cadiz Park, with plans in the works to celebrate next year.
