The trial for a man accused of murdering two Fort Campbell soldiers, including his estranged wife, has been delayed in order to allow his attorneys more time to obtain his military records.
Jeremy Demar, his defense attorneys, and Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling appeared for a pretrial conference in Christian Circuit Court before Judge John Atkins Tuesday morning. At the last pretrial conference in March, Judge Atkins agreed to schedule trial dates in October and a fall back date of June 2020. Boling says Demar’s attorneys filed a motion to continue the trial until June 2020 and Judge Atkins granted the motion. In addition, they also discussed the defense attorneys need to be prepared to go to trial at that time because Boling said he would object to any more motions to continue the trial.
Boling said he also informed the judge he is not interested in pursuing any kind of mediation in this case because he’s ready to go to trial.
Demar is charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder, assault and burglary in connection to the February 2017 shooting death of his estranged wife, 22-year old Priscilla East and 28-year old Christopher Hoch. Police said Hoch was killed trying to protect everyone in the Oak Grove home from Demar.
Demar’s new trial date is June 22, 2020.
