Vehicles are now rolling across a new railroad crossing in Princeton that had been closed for much-needed updates.

Princeton Mayor Kota Young says that state crews opened the crossing at the intersection of US 62 and KY 91 across from Casey’s General Store around 11:20 Tuesday morning. He added that the crossing, which had been closed since Saturday, has been fully renovated and is now open to traffic.

The project was completed as part of the Kentucky Rail Crossing Improvement Program with $78,269.50 in grant funds issued by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet at the beginning of July. The remaining project costs were provided by P&L Railroad and the Fredonia Valley Railroad.
