Man Charged With Assaulting Hopkinsville Police Officer And Firefighter

A Hopkinsville man fought with police and firefighters after being found passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle on Greenwood Drive Monday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 46-year-old Richard Rippeon Jr. was found passed out in his vehicle with the key still in the ignition.

When firefighters and police attempted to help him he allegedly became aggressive and hit an officer and a firefighter.

Police say they were able to get his hands cuffed after attempting to use a taser. Multiple beers were found around him in the vehicle.

He is charged with DUI, resisting arrest, and two counts of third-degree assault.
