Longest-Serving HCC Professor Considers His Career Post-Retirement

A well-loved Hopkinsville Community College professor, who retired after 42 years of serving the community, is reflecting on his years in the classroom.

Former Sociology professor Dr. Kevin Felton served the longest term of any faculty member in the history of Hopkinsville Community College. He estimates he has served over 20,000 students at HCC since being hired in 1977 at the age of 23.

He says he loved his time there but retired to pursue other interests, travel, and spend more time with his family.

Dr. Felton goes on to say the highlight of his career was the students he was able to teach.

Dr. Felton was honored, along with other retiring faculty, in a retirement ceremony at HCC in May of 2019.
