A Trigg County road that has been closed for over a month will reopen to traffic Friday afternoon. State transportation officials say KY 139/South Road will open around 3:00 p.m, more than a week ahead of schedule.
South Road has been closed since June 3 for reconstruction of the Burge Creek Bridge as part of the Bridging Kentucky Program.
As traffic flow resumes, officials say this area will continue to be an active work zone for about the next two weeks as a contractor completes some finish items along the roadway.
